The Dakshina Kannada Women police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl several times.
The police said the victim befriended the accused in March 2025 by calling him using her mother’s mobile phone. One day, the accused called the victim near a railway track, and he allegeldy sexually assaulted her. He threatened her and repeated the act several times later.
On her complaint, the police arrested the accused for offences punishable under Sections 64 (2) (M) and 351 (3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 5 (L) and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He was produced before jurisdictional court on Thursday. The court remanded the accused in judicial custody till September 9.
