Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre P. Sarat Chandra on Friday highlighted the issues and solutions of AI-driven translations.
Delivering a guest lecture on “Navigating the Cultural Landscape: Challenges and Solutions in AI-Driven English-Telugu Translation” organised by the VIT-AP School of Social Sciences and Humanities (VISH), VIT-AP University to mark Telugu Language Day, commemorating the birthday of Telugu poet Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy. Mr. Sarat spoke about the cultural and linguistic intricacies, along with the inherent limitations of AI in capturing the depth, nuance and context of translations.
Speakers on the occasion spoke about the technological challenges, and also emphasised the need to preserve the spirit and authenticity of Telugu/English through evolving digital mediums.
Dean in-charge of VISH Priyanka Ghosh along with others were present.
