The State Goods and Services Tax department has unearthed turnover suppression worth more than ₹100 crore in raids conducted in jewelleries in Thrissur district.
The department found 36 kg of unaccounted gold during the raids conducted simultaneously across 42 locations.
More than 200 officers were part of the inspections, christened ‘Operation Arkenstone,’ carried out by the Intelligence and Enforcment division of the SGST Department.
The raids began on the evening of August 26 and continued into the next day. The simultaneous inspections, carried out in 42 locations, covered 16 jewellery establishments and residences of the traders, the department said in a statement.
