The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) launched a live tracking portal for its mechanical road sweeping machines on Friday.
The move follows concerns raised by councillors in a recent Standing Committee meeting about the performance and monitoring of these machines.
According to an official statement, the new online platform allows people to view in real-time where and when the sweeping machines are operating.
The sweeping machines clean over 1,600 kilometres of roads every day between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., except on Sundays and public holidays.
The MCD currently uses 52 sweeping machines on roads wider than 60 feet. âThe launch of this portal marks a step forward in leveraging technology for better civic management. The real-time tracking feature not only promotes accountability but also builds trust between the civic body and the people it serves,â said MCD Commissioner Ashwani Kumar.Â
