Fifteen projects of over ₹180 crore are being launched at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) on Monday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the projects at a function which will be chaired by Health Minister Veena George.
Development projects worth ₹717.29 crore are ongoing at the MCH. First phase projects have been completed and those in the second phase are at various stages of construction.
Road development, construction of flyover, electrical and water works have been completed at ₹32.76 crore. The Medical Lab Technology (MLT) block at ₹21.35 crore and equipment purchase for the Imageology division at ₹43.9 crore have also been completed.
OT block
The projects being inaugurated include the MLT block and the Operation Theatre (OT) block consisting of 14 OTs, 145 beds and 16 intensive care units and cath lab at ₹8.5 crore. The Imageology division is getting equipment worth ₹43.9 crore, which include portable digital radiography (DR) units, four ultrasound machines, two stationary digital radiography machines, MRI machine, portable Xray machine and mobile DR unit.
Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT-CT) is being set up in the Nuclear Medicine department and another 128 slice CT machine in the hospital.
The revamped and modernised paediatric neurology and paediatric nephrology wards and paediatric dialysis unit are also being commissioned at SAT Hospital. The first paediatric gastro endoscopy unit in the public sector, Mother-Newborn care unit and Uro dynamic study centre are also being launched.
Breast milk bank
The third breast milk bank in the public sector is coming up at the Thiruvananthapuram MCH. A skin bank at ₹3.2 crore is also being set up in the Burns unit here.
A new and revamped website for the MCH is also part of the new projects being launched on Monday.
