PU and Honeybee Population Healthcare Foundation, Chennai, signed the MoU.

Pondicherry University (PU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Honeybee Population Healthcare Foundation, Chennai, for implementing dedicated healthcare programmes in villages near the university.

PU in a release said the MoU would pave the way for joint research initiatives by establishing ‘Model Sites for Impact Ecosystem’ through the adoption of villages around the campus. The collaboration includes long-term dedicated programmes in public health, and short-term goals such as conducting training programmes in research methodology, epidemiology, statistics, data analysis, and Geographic Information Systems.

“The activities will help enhance the exchange and dissemination of knowledge, strengthening the interface between academic and healthcare practice for the benefit of students, researchers, the government and society at large,” the release said.

Vice Chancellor P. Prakash Babu emphasised the significance of the partnership in promoting community health.

Founder and Director of the foundation Viduthalai Virumbi B. highlighted the organisation’s mission to promote population healthcare initiatives.
