POCSO case against man for raping daughter in Karnataka

Vijayapura police registered a case against a man under provisions of the POCSO Act on the charge of sexual assault on his five-year-old daughter, in north Karnataka.

A case has been registered by officers of the women’s police station. The identity of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the child.

“All the legal steps have been initiated as per law and prescribed rules. All measures, including protection of the victim, are being taken in coordination with relevant agencies and departments,” Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said.

Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Shashidhar Kosambe said that a team would visit the victim’s family in a few days and counsel the aggrieved members, and meet jurisdictional officers.
