India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert for 13 districts of Telangana. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, and Warangal districts on Tuesday, according to the alert.

Heavy rainfall is very likely in Adilabad, Jangaon, Kamareddy, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Medak, Nalgonda, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely at isolated places in all districts.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, at times intense spells accompanied with gusty winds, are very likely in Hyderabad and its neighbourhood, according to IMD’s bulletin issued on Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, head of Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, K. Nagarathna, said that Northwest Bay is likely to see a fresh monsoon low in the next 12 to 36 hours. Under its influence, parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to receive widespread heavy or very heavy rains. In particular, northern parts of Telangana adjoining central India may be more vulnerable to flooding from Godavari river and its tributaries, she said.
