K. Kavitha, daughter of Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti (BRS) chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, announced her resignation from the party as well as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC), a day after her suspension for anti-party activities.

Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday (September 3, 2025), Ms. Kavitha blamed her relative and BRS leader T. Harish Rao for hatching conspiracies against her and her family after an alleged meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Listing various initiatives she took from November 23, 2024 — after she was released from jail — including round table conferences, protests, and writing on women’s reservation, Ms. Kavitha asked if all of it were “anti-party activities”.

Ms. Kavitha asserted that her family — Mr. Chandrashekar Rao, brother K. T. Rama Rao, and her — will be together regardless of the situation

She alleged that there is a conspiracy to disintegrate her family, and the first episode of it was her suspension from the party. Ms. Kavitha claimed Mr. KCR and Mr. KTR too have the same threat, which is part of the conspiracy to “wrest control of BRS.”

She launched a direct attack against her relatives, Mr. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Rao. She claimed it all started after Mr. Harish Rao travelled to Delhi “in the same flight” with Mr. Revanth Reddy, where he “surrendered“ before the Chief Minister. She claimed the government dropped corruption allegations against Mr. Harish after this meeting.

She wondered why Mr. Harish Rao remained silent even after her father was named by the Congress government in the alleged lapses in the Kaleshwaram project.

What next?

Ms. Kavitha said that she will not join any party and a decision regarding the future will be taken after discussing with Telangana Jagruthi cadre, intellectuals of the state, BC communities and everyone. “I will take a decision which will benefit people of Telangana.”
