A driver with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, G. Ramakrishnan, 43, of Tirumangalam was found dead in a dump yard in Uchapatti under Austinpatti police station limits on Wednesday.
The police said that the deceased, who was employed in the TNSTC depot in Tirupparankundram, had recently contested the Labour Progressive Front election and lost.
In her complaint, his wife, Ramuthulasi, 41, had said that ever since he lost the election he was upset.
Though he was operating the bus on Periyar-Kurandi route for the past eight years, after the election, he was forced to change the route.
He had questioned the officials as to why his bus route was changed.
In this backdrop, Ramakrishnan, who went for work on August 31, did not return home. On Thursday afternoon, he was found dead in the dump yard.
Claiming that his body had injuries on the hands and face, she raised suspicion over her husband’s death.
The body has been taken to Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem.
Austinpatti police are investigating.
