The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced the resumption of the Olympic Solidarity programme of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a release on Wednesday.

The IOA said that the IOC had commended the positive steps taken in India to strengthen the sporting ecosystem and support athletes at every level, especially through the National Sports Governance Act.

Indian athletes would stand to benefit through direct funding and development opportunities from the IOC towards their training, preparation and participation in the Olympic Games and other major international competitions.

“This reflects our shared commitment to uphold the highest standards of governance in sport. Together with the government, we are shaping a strong future for the athletes. This renewed partnership with the IOC will play a vital role in helping our athletes realise their Olympic dreams. We sincerely thank the IOC for its continued trust, support and guidance,” said the IOA president, P.T. Usha.
