The Cheranalloor police have registered a case over a strange incident in which a man allegedly caused an accident by recklessly riding a horse. A car was damaged on Saturday night (September 6) after it collided with the animal, which succumbed to severe injuries caused by the accident, on Sunday (September 7).
The alleged incident took place near the Manjummel bridge on the Kalamassery-Cheranalloor road, according to the first information report (FIR). The accident happened as the accused, who has not been named in the FIR, reportedly rode the horse towards the north from the median of the road in a careless manner. The car suffered damage to the tune of ₹65,000, the FIR said. Though the injured horse was rushed to the veterinary hospital at Mannuthy, it could not be saved.
The horse reportedly belonged to a Cheranalloor native, and his relative was riding it at the time of the accident. The rider has been charged under Section 291 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (negligent conduct with respect to animal) and Section 120(j) (causing any injury or damage by any negligence or ill-usage in driving, management or care of any animal or vehicle) of the Kerala Police Act.
