Kerala Congress high-power committee member Prince Luckose Ottathaiyil passes away

Prince Luckose Ottathaiyil, a member of the Kerala Congress high-power committee, passed away in Thenkashi on Monday (September 8, 2025). He was 52.

Party sources said he suffered a heart attack while returning by train from Velankanni with his family. The body, currently kept at a private hospital’s mortuary, will be brought to Ettumanur on Tuesday (September 9, 2025). It will be kept at the private bus stand for public viewing at 2 p.m. and then at the Kerala Congress State Committee office in Kottayam at 4 p.m. The body will then be taken to his residence in Parapuzha at 6 p.m.

The funeral services will begin at his residence at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and will be led by Archbishop Mar Thomas Tharayil. The mortal remains will be laid to rest at the Bethlehem Church in Paramupuzha.

The son of Kerala Congress founding leader late O.V. Luckose and Aniamma, Mr. Ottathaiyil is survived by his wife, Sindhu, and two children, Hannah Prince and Luke Prince.

Mr. Ottathaiyil, an advocate at the Kottayam Bar, had served as the Kerala Student Congress State president and Kerala Youth Front State president. He also served as the Kottayam Assembly Constituency chairman of the United Democratic Front (UDF). He contested as the UDF candidate from the Ettumanur Assembly Constituency in the past Assembly elections.
