Flight operations were disrupted at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) evening after an aircraft navigation system was damaged due to lightning strike, an airport official said. At least five aircraft scheduled to land in Chhattisgarh’s capital had to be diverted, the official added.
The official said the DVOR (Doppler VHF Omni Directional Range) system was damaged around 6 p.m., affecting both landings and take-offs. The incoming flights were diverted to nearby airports, including Nagpur and Bhubaneswar, he added.
He said the DVOR system was expected to be repaired by Thursday,(September 11, 2025) after which normal flight operations could be resumed.
