President Donald Trump on Monday (June 16, 2025) said he finalized a trade agreement with the United Kingdom, first announced in May, that is expected to slash tariffs on goods from both countries, as Mr. Trump continues to wage a trade war with America’s longstanding allies.

Mr. Trump said the deal was “fair” for both nations and will “produce a lot of jobs, a lot of income.”

The final deal does not include tariffs on steel, as was previously planned in the provisional agreement, but talks on the subject are ongoing.

The agreement was announced as the President meets with world leaders on the first day of the G7, or Group of Seven, summit in Canada, a country he has previously suggested should be annexed.
