The AIADMK organised a demonstration on Sunday to protest the DMK’s alleged “derogatory depiction” of party general secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in a cartoon.
A. Anbalagan, AIADMK Puducherry Secretary, who led the protest condemned the defamatory portrayal of Mr. Palaniswami in an illustration that was posted on social media by the DMK’s IT wing. He called for measures to block the accounts that indulged in the egregious act and for petitioning the Election Commission for a six-month ban on the DMK.
Mr. Anbalagan flayed the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, for its all-round failure and said it came to power on false promises. Not only did the DMK renege on its promises, but its rule was marked by deteriorating law and order, violent crimes, and corruption, he alleged.
The distasteful caricaturing of Mr. Palaniswami, who as Leader of the Opposition, had been exposing the misdeeds of the DMK government only betrayed an inability to counter facts, he contended. Terming such tactics a perversion by those incapable of facing criticism in a democracy, he said it only revealed the increasing panic among the DMK leadership of facing the AIADMK-BJP alliance in the 2026 Assembly election. A. Baskar, former MLA, also participated.
