Puducherry Agriculture Minister C. Djeacoumar was injured in a road accident in Pudukkottai district on Sunday while travelling in a car to Peravurani in Thanjavur district. The accident occurred at Mangadu in the Vadakadu police station limits.
Police sources said the Minister, along with his personal assistant, an escort police, and another person, was travelling in the car when a motorcycle that was in front of the vehicle took a sudden right turn.
In a bid to avoid hitting the two-wheeler, the car driver swerved left and rammed a road-side roller.
All the occupants of the car, including Mr. Djeacoumar, were admitted to a private hospital in Pudukkottai. The Minister sustained an injury in his hip, sources said. They were later shifted to a private hospital in Chennai, sources said.
