Thirteen Automated External Defibrillators (AED) were inaugurated at Chennai airport on Wednesday as part of the ‘HeartSafe’ initiative of the Kauvery Hospital and Chennai airport to quickly respond to cardiac emergencies.
Raja Kishore, director, Chennai airport, said, “The installation of the Automated External Defibrillator is an important step towards strengthening our emergency medical preparedness.”
Manivannan S., founder and managing director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said Kauvery Hospital’s 24×7 emergency clinics are equipped with advanced medical equipment and supported by experienced emergency physicians, skilled nurses, and trained paramedics, who can respond immediately. “The addition of AEDs further strengthens our emergency response capability, enabling timely defibrillation alongside expert medical care,” he added.
Kauvery Hospital has been operating a 24×7 emergency medical service at Chennai airport, with 49 healthcare professionals and four clinics located at T1 Arrival, T2 Departure, T2 Security Hold Area, and T4 Arrival, according to a press release. Two fully equipped ambulances are deployed at the runway and cityside for rapid response and patient transfer.
