Thoothukudi Q branch police seized 17 kg hashish oil and arrested four persons, who were allegedly transporting the contraband by a car for smuggling to Maldives, in the small hours of Monday.
According to police, acting on a tip off the surveillance was intensified across the district. The police intercepted a car near Therespuram and conducted a search. They found several packets of hashish oil inside the vehicle and seized the contraband. The four persons in the car were arrested and identified as J. Rexton, 53, C. Rosario, 40, S. Antony Libitas, 36 of Thoothukudi and M. Sermadurai, 46 of Siluvaipatti.
The arrested persons and the seized hashish oil were handed over to the Narcotic Intelligence Bureau for further investigation.
