Sixty-four people sustained injuries at jallikattu events held at Thirukkanoorpatti near Thanjavur and Manjampatti near Manapparai in Tiruchi district on Saturday.

Forty bull tamers sustained injuries at the jallikattu organised as part of Saint Anthoniyar Pongal Festival at Thirukkanoorpatti. Two bulls died after they collided against each other and another animal sustained injury on its front leg during the event.

The bulls, which cleared the medical test, were released from beneath the special platform put up on Madhakovil street and they ran through the 100 metre coir-spread street towards Saint Anthoniyar Church, dogging the efforts of the tamers trying to hold on to their humps for 25 to 50 metres.
