The Kasaragod Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special squad seized 75.11 grams of suspected MDMA from a lodge at Periye in the early hours of Tuesday and arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the case.
The arrested is K. Abdul Shareef, 30, of Manjanadukkam, Kolathur. The seizure was made during a raid conducted around 3.30 a.m. at Group Ten Plaza at Periye.
According to Excise officials, the special squad led by Inspector C. Santhosh conducted a search at a room on the second floor, where the accused was found in possession of the synthetic drug.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 22 (c) of the NDPS Act for possessing and trafficking MDMA. He was produced before the Hosdurg Judicial First Class Magistrate Court -II, officials said.
