A 70-year-old man was killed after a water tanker lorry hit him in Sunambu Kolathur Main Road near Pallikaranai on Wednesday.
A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said Madhavan was a resident of K.P.G. Nagar in Periya Kovilambakkam. He was walking along the S. Kolathur main road towards the bus stop and was near the Kovilambakkam pond when a reversing water tanker hit him. He died on the spot.
The Pallikaranai Traffic Investigation police sent the body to the Tambaram Government Hospital for post-mortem. Later, the police arrested the lorry driver Satish, 33, a resident of Rajaji Nagar in Madipakkam, for causing the accident.
