More trains to be operated from Rameswaram after opening of redeveloped railway station, says Southern Railway General Manager

After inauguration of the redeveloped Rameswaram railway station in March, new train services including Vande Bharat Express would be introduced from Rameswaram, said Southern Railway General Manager R. N. Singh.

After reviewing the progress of the on-going construction work at Rameswaram, Mr. Singh said that passenger amenities in the station would be improved with the new two-storey building.

Similarly, parking lots and entry and exit were also getting improved, he added.

The station would also have wider commercial area and rooms.

The station redevelopment work has been taken up at a cost of ₹112 crore.

The General Manager, along with Madurai Divisional Railway Manager, Om Prakash Meena, also inspected the works under Amrit Bharat station scheme at Ramanathapuram.

Two lifts would be provided for the foot over bridge (FOB). An additional FOB would also be constructed. Covered parking facility of 1,300 square metres, passenger information system and fencing walls for platforms were being undertaken.

Parcel office is being relocated and track machine room is also coming up.
