Several fuel stations in Puducherry witnessed unusually long queues on Thursday as motorists rushed to fill petrol and diesel due to fear over disruption of fuel supply owing to the conflict in West Asia.
However, fuel pump owners said supply chains were functioning normally and there was no need for public to buy petrol or diesel in a panic mode. District Collector A.Kulothungan, who chaired a meeting with distributors following reports of overcrowding at fuel stations, has appealed to the public not to panic and believe in rumours. “The distributors have given a positive feedback on the supply side. As of now, we are not facing any shortage in fuel distribution,” he said.
