A tree on North Public Square Road at Basavanagudi was uprooted following heavy rain, hailstorm, and strong winds in Bengaluru in the evening, in Bengaluru on April 29, 2026. The rain on April 29 caused extensive damage to public property in Bengaluru.
The J.P. Nagar police have registered an FIR against officials of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) following the death of a 34-year-old cobbler by electrocution near a bus stop in Bengaluru during heavy rain on April 29 evening.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s sister, police have invoked Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (causing death by negligence not amounting to culpable homicide), and have begun further investigation.
