The Manur police have picked-up three teenagers, who allegedly lobbed Molotov cocktail on a police outpost on Monday night in a bid to terrorise the law-enforcers and teach them a lesson, it is said.

The Manur police, during the routine vehicle check on Monday evening, intercepted three teens riding on a bike. After seizing the two-wheeler, the police asked the underaged trio, who did not have the valid driving license, to bring their parents to the police station to get the bike released, the police said.

However, they prepared Molotov cocktail and lobbed it in the police outpost at Ramayanpatti on Tirunelveli – Sankarankovil Road in the midnight. No one was injured in the attack.

After identifying the attackers with the help of CCTV footages, the police picked up on Tuesday the teens, who were reportedly in an inebriated condition. The trio was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in the evening before being taken to the Government Observation Home.

When the police took action against three persons during vehicle check at Thatchanallur a couple of years ago, the Thatchanallur police station came under petrol bomb attack.

As the second death anniversary of rowdy Deepak Raja, a supporter of slain Scheduled Caste leader C. Pasupathi alias Pasupathi Pandian of Mela Alangarathattu in Thoothukudi district, was observed on Tuesday, police are also investigating that if the attack was orchestrated by the teens on a police outpost to prove their supremacy.
