Several events and programmes were held in Tirupati to create awareness on using eco-friendly Ganesh idols during this year’s Vinayaka Chaturthi festival.
A creative workshop titled “Make Your Own Vinayaka” was organised by the By Birth Tirupati (BBT) group to raise awareness at Sri Aurobindo Vidyalaya in the Sri Aurobindo Society premises in Tirupati on Saturday. The workshop was organised for children till the age of 15, with the aim of encouraging them to make eco-friendly Ganesh idols using clay. Around 100 young children from Sri Aurobindo Vidyalaya and other schools participated in the event.
Meanwhile, a competition for making eco-friendly Ganesh idols using turmeric, clay, paper, and vegetables was organised at Silparamam in Tirupati to raise public awareness about environmental conservation. The main objective of the event was to convey the message of celebrating the festival using natural materials and avoiding materials such as chemicals and Plaster of Paris .
Handicraft mela
Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani and Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao inaugurated a handicraft mela named Gandhi Silpa Bazar at Silparamam in Tirupati. Nearly 40 artisans participated in the event and displayed their products in various stalls.
