A woman was hacked to death over a land dispute here on Saturday.
Police said, S. Annamayil, 42, a resident of Perungudi near Thirumohur, Othakadai, had a long-standing land dispute between her family and her brother Thangam.
In this situation, an argument broke out between them once again on Saturday regarding the land issue.
As the argument escalated, Rajkumar, 28, the son of Annamayil’s brother, hacked her on the head with a machete. Severely injured, Annamayil died on the spot. Following the incident, Rajkumar fled from the area.
Othakadai police sent Annamayil’s body to Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem.
Registering a case, the police launched a search for Rajkumar and subsequently arrested him where he was hiding in the same area.
