The members of the Halai Memon Ladies Club (HMLC) organised ‘Art Blast’, a workshop on traditional Turkish tile painting, here on Saturday.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, the members took to painting as it helped them learn artistic skills and also a good relaxation from the monotonous work schedules.
The HMLC, a 250-member community organisation, has been conducting a series of programmes on education, health, recreation and creative activities in Madurai for the womenfolk in the society.
They focus on women entrepreneurship development with the objective to help women do small-scale businesses from their comfort zone. They also conduct regular vocational services and skill development programmes.
The club, led by its president Aneesa Fazal and secretary Fathima Patel, with immediate past president Mehrun Ismail, treasurer Shahida Hamid, vice-president Zareena and joint secretary Shenaz Manan, felicitated students who had secured top marks in class 10 and plus two, UG and PG examinations.
On the occasion, an awareness-cum-interaction programme, titled ‘Love Yourself’, was featured by Dr. Kavitha Ganesh who spoke on mental health and stress management, while Sridevi conducted a session on basic physical exercises for youngsters.
The speakers also highlighted the need for outdoor activities and explained the salient features of dietary practices.
