Villupuram Member of Parliament D. Ravikumar reviewed various Central schemes being implemented in the district at the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held in Villupuram on Monday.
The meeting reviewed the implementation and operation of various schemes under the departments of rural development and panchayat raj, local administration, Tangedco, departments of agriculture, forests and animal husbandry, among others.
The allocation of funds under each scheme, the ongoing works, and the progress made, besides those that were completed, were reviewed during the meeting, in which Collector Shiek Abdul Rahman participated.
The various line departments implementing the schemes under the Union government were asked to ensure quality infrastructure work, and that the schemes reached the intended beneficiaries.
Mr. Ravikumar also directed officials to expedite the completion of pending works under the Housing for All scheme and the PM-JANMAN scheme. After reviewing details of houses allotted to beneficiaries under the schemes, and the current list of newly-eligible beneficiaries, he instructed officials to ensure that pending houses were completed without delay.
He also said that basic amenities used by the public in rural panchayats, municipalities and town panchayats must be continuously maintained in good condition.
Funds allocated for the development of panchayats should be utilised properly. Development works must be completed within the stipulated time, in accordance with government guidelines and prescribed quality standards, with all departments working in coordination, he said.
