Tremors felt across Delhi-NCR as 4.9-magnitude quake hits Uttarakhand’s Chamoli

Tremors were felt in Delhi and adjoining areas late on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.

According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) — the nodal government agency monitoring earthquake activity — the epicentre was located at a depth of 13 km in Chamoli.

The quake, which logged 4.9 magnitude on the Richter’s scale, hit at 10.23 p.m., the NCS added.
