M Friends Charitable Trust, in association with other organisations, will hold a mega artificial limb fitting camp, a distribution ceremony of disability equipment, and the birthday celebrations of Minister U.T. Khader on October 12 and 13 at Loyola Hall on the St. Aloysius Pre-University College Campus, Kodialbail.
Camp coordinator Rasheed Vitla, in a statement here, said the Department of Social Work at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Karnataka Marwari Youth Federation, Bengaluru, and UTK Social Forum, Mangaluru, have joined hands to conduct the camp, sponsored by non-resident entrepreneurs Ronald Colaco and Shamirur Rahman.
Mr. Khader will inaugurate the programme at 9.30 a.m. on October 12, in the presence of M Friends chairman Zakaria Jokatte, Mr. Colaco, St. Aloysius vice-chancellor Rev. Praveen Martis, Bunts’ leader Aikala Harish Shetty, White Stone Group chairman B.M. Sharif Bolar, Marwari Youth Federation president F. R. Singhvi, and others.
As many as 110 persons with disabilities who have already registered will get custom-measured artificial limbs distributed free of cost on the same day. Wheelchairs, calipers, walkers, and walking sticks will also be distributed to invited beneficiaries with disabilities from Dakshina Kannada district.
