YERU, the river festival, got off to an enthusiastic start with several students, including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, participating in a forest walk at Bendalapadu village in Chandrugonda mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday.
The river festival is being organised as a prelude to the teppotsavam, the annual float festival, to be conducted on Godavari river in the famous temple town of Bhadrachalam on December 29, a day ahead of Mukkoti (Vaikunta) Ekadasi festival.
A group of young nature enthusiasts participated in the ‘Kanagiri Forest Walk’ at Bendalapadu on Monday morning. Collector Jitesh V. Patil and a host of district officials also took part in the event. The programme was organised to raise environmental awareness on biodiversity conservation. The forest walk concluded at a Kakatiya-era temple near Bendalapadu.
According to the organisers of the event, the forest walk provided the youngsters a perfect platform to explore nature.
YERU, the river festival, features an array of exciting events including ‘Kinnerasani River Walk’ on December 23 and ‘Palvancha Hill Trek’ on December 24.
