A total of 57 mobile phones worth ₹9.60 lakh, which were either missing or stolen, were recovered by the district police and handed over to their owners in Erode on Monday (December 22, 2025).
The Superintendent of Police, A. Sujatha, said the cybercrime branch, functioning under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police, was handling cases related to missing or stolen mobile phones, issues arising from social media posts, and financial fraud.
She urged the public to lodge complaints on the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal immediately if their mobile phones were stolen or went missing. Based on complaints registered on the portal, a total of 1,259 mobile phones had been recovered so far, she added.
