An awareness campaign on ‘Manarkeni’ application of Tamil Nadu School Education Department was held at Madurai Kamaraj University College here on Tuesday.
C. Krishnamoorthy, zonal-level coordinator for the campaign, said though the app was launched in July 2023, the number of users stood just at one lakh till June 2025.
“To improve its reach and realise its purpose of assisting school and college students in education, the School Education Department came up with a plan to propagate its importance among the students, parents and the teachers,” he added.
As part of the mission, zonal coordinators and 175 ambassadors were deployed to reach out to the students in educational institutions across the State. The ambassadors, who were appointed through a test, were earlier volunteers of ‘Illam Thedi Kalvi’ Scheme, he noted.
“Owing to their knowledge in different subjects and curricula, their role in widening the application’s reach is very important,” he stated.
The application would have contents of all-subject study materials with animated video contents for Class I to XII. It would also have materials for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE, CUET and CLAT, he said.
“By just logging into the application, the user can access all the materials and contents provided under various sub-heads. As every subject is explained through an animated video, it makes complex concepts easy to understand and ensures a more engaging learning experience,” Mr. Krishnamoorthy said.
Higher education guidance and opportunities could also be accessed through the application. With the focused campaign, the number of users increased to 21 lakh in just six months, he added.
