In view of huge influx of vehicles carrying devotees from various districts and States coming to Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, Madurai City Police have made traffic regulations to ensure a smooth flow of vehicular traffic around the temple.
Parking lot has been provided at Ellis Nagar and at the multi-level car parking on North Aavani Moola Street.
The police have put up QR Code boards at various spots on Veli Streets, Masi Streets, Marret Streets and Aavani Moola Streets to guide the vehicles towards the parking lots on scanning them.
Besides, the police have introduced one-way traffic system around the temple to prevent traffic congestion till the end of Ayyappa season.
One-way traffic has been introduced on North Aavani Moola Street.
Vehicles from North Aavani Moola Street should go via Netaji Statue junction, Meenakshi Bus Stop, South Aavani Moola Street, East Aavani Moola Street to reach North Aavani Moola Street. However, there is no change in proceeding from Dhalavai Street, North Aavani Moola Street junction towards West Aavani Moola Street.
No vehicles would be allowed from West Aavani Moola Street-North Aavani Moola Street towards Vaduga Kavalkooda Street.
These vehicles should go via West Masi Street, Netaji Street and Netaji Street to West Masi Street.
