Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao said he would write to the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking cancellation of the YSRCP’s recognition over the conduct of its leaders, alleging that a derogatory culture is deeply ingrained in the party.
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Monday (February 2), Mr. Srinivasa Rao alleged that most leaders of the party, right from its president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to former Ministers, MLAs and party functionaries, are resorting to objectionable and personal remarks that are shameful in politics.
He said he had compiled videos of such statements made by YSRCP leaders and would enclose them as part of a formal representation to the ECI, seeking appropriate action. “Criticism is acceptable in politics, but dragging personal lives and targeting families can’t be accepted,” he said, expressing concern that such a culture could negatively influence the youth coming to politics.
The former Minister added that he doesn’t believe that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who himself had used objectionable language, would ever restrain his party leaders. He pointed out that the TDP had suspended its members who posted objectionable content on social media against Y.S. Bharathi, the wife of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He added that the YSRCP should not resort to caste-based politics when disciplinary action is taken against them.
