Aggrieved TVK functionary blocks Vijay’s car

Infighting in a district unit of the fledgling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam came to the fore on Tuesday when an aggrieved party functionary blocked party president Vijay’s car near the party’s headquarters at Panaiyur on the outskirts of Chennai.

Ajitha Agnel, a TVK functionary from Thoothukudi district who is active on social media, was reportedly upset over not being appointed as the party’s district secretary. She blocked Mr. Vijay’s car and later staged a sit-in protest along with her supporters in front of the party office. TVK functionaries attempted to persuade her to disperse.

TVK deputy general secretary C.T.R. Nirmalkumar said when Vijay Makkal Iyakkam was converted into TVK, several postings were realigned and the number of posts at the district level was reduced. He said it was common for some workers to feel disappointed and such issues occur in all parties. He said Mr. Vijay would sort out the matter.
