Salem West MLA R. Arul on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) said that all major political parties, including actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), are in talks with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) (Dr. Ramadoss faction), and the alliance will be finalised in a week.
Speaking to the reporters in Salem on Tuesday, Mr. Arul said that the PMK is very strong under the leadership of Dr. Ramadoss. “The person identified by Dr. Ramadoss will only become Chief Minister in 2026 in Tamil Nadu, and election results will prove it,” he said. He added that Dr. Ramadoss is a transparent politician, and has been involved in politics for the past 46 years. “Within a week, the alliance will be finalised.”
Responding to a question on the politics of Mr. Vijay, Mr. Arul said that anyone enter politics in India, but people should support and vote for them. “The youth is following Mr. Vijay like honeybees. Who can stop Mr. Vijay from becoming the Chief Minister if people voted for him? Do not underestimate anyone in politics,” he stated.
“People must understand that they cannot buy votes purely with money. There is nothing wrong if Mr. Vijay came as an alternative to DMK and AIADMK,” Mr. Arul added.
