A strong and globally connected alumni network can contribute greatly to the growth of educational institutions and create opportunities for future generations, said BITS Pilani Group Vice-Chancellor V. Ramagopal Rao.

Speaking at the Alumni Ruby Reunion of the third batch (1982-86) of Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITS-W), here on Friday, Mr. Rao, an alumnus of the batch and former director of IIT-Delhi, urged alumni to further support the institution by setting up an endowment fund for underprivileged students.

He said KITS-W alumni had stayed closely connected despite living in different parts of the world, creating a robust global network. He urged past and present students to uphold the institution’s legacy through integrity, professionalism and social responsibility.

KITS-W principal K. Ashoka Reddy said the alumni had been supporting the institution through seminars and workshops on emerging technologies, industrial visits, internships, support for start-ups, procurement of advanced laboratory equipment and training programmes to improve placement opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The 40-year reunion was inaugurated by KITS-W chairman V. Lakshmikantha Rao, treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, vice-president K. Deviprasad and former faculty members. More than 120 alumni from across the globe attended the reunion.
