Alva’s Health Centre opens cardiac centre in Moodbidri

Alva’s Health Centre, which has been serving the healthcare needs of Moodbidri residents, inaugurated its cardiac centre on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the Centre, Nitte (Deemed to be University) Chancellor N. Vinay Hegde said the launch of a dedicated cardiac care facility at Alva’s Health Centre is a commendable initiative significantly strengthening regional healthcare services.

He said that heart-related ailments had become increasingly common and could prove life-threatening in the absence of timely treatment. The availability of advanced cardiac care facilities in Moodbidri would reduce the need for patients to travel to distant cities, saving crucial time and lives.

Highlighting the broader role of education in societal development, Mr. Hegde said education should remain a service to humanity rather than a commercial enterprise. He pointed out that medical education, in particular, must be guided by values, ethics, compassion and social responsibility.

A.J. Group of Institutions Chairman A.J. Shetty said the cardiac centre added a new dimension to the services offered by Alva’s Health Centre. Emphasising that cardiac diseases often required urgent intervention, he said the presence of advanced facilities in this region would help save many lives.

Founder-Chairman of Kanachur Group of Institutions U.K. Monu said the cardiac facility in a small town was a remarkable achievement.

Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman M. Mohan Alva said he had never felt the need to leave native place and always aspired to serve his own people. Dr. Alva said he had started Alva’s Health Centre in the 1980s with the objective of specialist medical services at minimal cost. “Ethics are our greatest asset,“ he said.
