Alva’s Samskrutika Vaibhava brings in vibrant blend of art forms and dance performances at Udupi

Over 500 students rendered a vibrant blend of traditional art forms and dance performances at the Alva’s Samskruthika Vaibhava, a cultural variety programme by Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, at Udupi on Saturday.

The three-hour cultural extravaganza organised at the Sri Krishna Mutt parking area drew an audience of over 8,000 in the evening. The programme began with a yogasana performance presentation, before unfolding into a colourful celebration of Indian performing arts. The background music, coordinated by Shivam, added energy to the event and kept the audience engaged.

A Bharatanatyam performance based on the theme of ‘Samudra Manthan’ followed. The dance portrayed the concept of Ashta Lakshmis and was directed by Vidwan Deepak Kumar Puttur.

The event also featured a Badagu Thittu Yakshagana performance, showcasing the folk theatre tradition of coastal Karnataka. This was followed by performances of Dandiya, which brought rhythmic vibrancy to the stage and received enthusiastic applause.

Martial and folk art forms such as Malla Kamba and Dollu Kunita further elevated the cultural evening. The synchronised movements, physical agility, and traditional costumes of the performers added visual appeal and showcased the diversity of Indian cultural heritage. Manipuri stick dance was another attraction, and it showed the inclusion of art forms from different regions of the country.

Paryaya Puttige Mutt seer Sugunnendra Tirtha Swami, junior Seer Sushreendra Tirtha Swami, Moodbidri Jain Mutt Seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Pandithacharyavarya Swami, former Minister K Jayaprakash Hegde, foundation chairman M. Mohan Alva and others were present.
