AP government to set up fire station in each constituency: Minister

The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to establish a fire station in every Assembly constituency, said State Home and Disaster Management Minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Friday.

After inaugurating several development works along with Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar in Addanki town, in Prakasam district she said: “After the Alliance government came to power, we have opened several new fire stations across the State. We have also increased the number of fire tender vehicles to reduce the response time to 10-15 minutes. With the financial support of ₹210 crore from the Centre, the State has already spent ₹110 crore to purchase fire equipment and vehicles.”

As part of the infrastructure development in Addanki, the new fire station building was constructed at a cost of ₹2.25 crore, with funds allocated under the 15th Finance Commission. “A new fire tender vehicle was procured for this station at a cost of ₹75 lakh,” said Ms. Anitha.

The Home Minister outlined the progress achieved by the Fire Services Department and provided departmental details regarding the Addanki fire station. She recalled that the fire station was sanctioned in 2012 and had been operating since December 30, 2013, out of a temporary shed with a single garage bay located at the Agricultural Market Yard.

She informed that the Addanki fire station serves six mandals—Addanki, Korisapadu, J. Panguluru, Ballikurva, Santhanuthalapadu, and Mundlamuru—and has been effectively meeting the emergency service needs in these areas. She stated that to enhance the fire station’s capabilities, advanced equipment, alongside the latest vehicle have been provides to ensure better services by the fire staff.

According to the Home Minister, the station handled 47 accident incidents in 2025-26, saving property worth ₹1.70 crore and safely rescuing six individuals through rescue operations. During 2026-27, it responded to 94 incidents so far, saving property worth ₹2.05 crore and rescuing two lives. She commended Fire Department officials for their efficient work in this regard.

She further mentioned that road construction across the State was being accelerated to enable fire and police personnel reach accident sites quickly.

A 33/11 kV semi-indoor electrical substation built at a cost of ₹7.72 crore was inaugurated in Addanki. Mr. Ravi Kumar said that the new substation would address the low-voltage issues in Addanki and surrounding areas. The Home Minister lauded the services of the Energy Minister for ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the State despite El Niño conditions.
