Alluri Sitharama Raju district got it’s first ‘Aadhaar Seva Kendra’ at Nakkalaputtu village in Paderu mandal on Friday, to improve Aadhaar-related services for tribal people and residents in remote areas.

District Joint Collector T. Sri Pooja inaugurated the centre in the presence of officials from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the newly appointed staff.

She said that the centre would help residents access Aadhaar services more easily. It would particularly benefit tribal people who have to travel long distances to get their Aadhaar details corrected or update their Aadhaar details. Errors in names, dates of birth, age and parent’s details, besides other technical issues, have made it difficult for many residents to access essential services, she said.

Aadhaar is an important requirement for availing various government welfare schemes, banking services and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) facilities. The new centre would help people resolve Aadhaar-related issues more conveniently and reduce the need for repeated visits to distant service centres, the JC said.

She further added that a special grievance counter has been established at the centre to receive Aadhaar-related complaints and help people clarify their doubts. Issues that cannot be resolved at the local level will be escalated to the zonal and regional offices concerned for early resolution, officials said.
