The Alluri Sitharama Raju district police launched a 15-day tailoring training programme on Saturday (27 December, 2025) as part of ‘SARAL’, a community welfare initiative, at the Youth Training Centre in Maredumilli, under the aegis of the A.P. State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). The objective of the programme is to provide self-employment opportunities to unemployed tribal women from Maoist-affected areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar said that as part of the programme, in the first phase in March 2025, 82 tribal women belonging to surrendered Maoist families and backward villages were provided tailoring training at Araku. Similarly, in the second phase now, as many as 105 women from Maredumilli, Rampachodavaram, Gurtedu, and Y. Ramavaram mandals, which are backward due to Maoist activities, participated in the tailoring training programme.
The SP said that the district police are implementing various employment and self-employment opportunities. He called upon the tribal women to make proper use of these opportunities to become economically and socially empowered, and to work towards the welfare of their families and the development of their respective regions.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Rampachodavaram, G. Sai Prasanth, District Skill Development Officer, D. Rohini, participated in the programme.
