The 18th annual Tirupati Book Festival 2026 is garnering a rousing response from book lovers following its vibrant opening on Saturday evening (January 31) at the Pandit Nehru Municipal Corporation High School grounds.
Book lovers of all ages flocked to the venue on Sunday afternoon (February 01) to find their favourite titles at the festival organised by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Tirupati Kendra.
“In spite of the growing influence of mobile phones, there is still a section that is pursuing book reading as a passion and we are glad to be part of that,” said J. Poornima, a B. Sc (Computers) student.
Apart from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Bhavan’s Book House, reputed publications like National Book Trust (Government of India), Aurobindo Society, Ramakrishna Vivekananda Publications, Deepti Publications (Tenali), Visalandhra Book House, Shravya educational aids, Supreme Law House (Vijayawada), Anveekshiki Hyderabard and Vijaya Vani Printers (Chowdepalle) have set up stalls.
‘The Hindu’ stall
The Hindu Group of Publications has also set up a stall for the first time at the book festival. Avid book readers made a beeline to the stall having an impressive array of its special publications and coffee table books.
There are specific stalls displaying children’s books that have an array of publications from Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle etc, besides novel products like ‘reusable books and never-ending pencils’ that are alluring to children.
In a symbolic gesture ahead of the inauguration, former Chief Vigilance Commissioner of India K.V. Chowdary, litterateur ‘Pancha Sahasravadhani’ Medasani Mohan, BVB Tirupati Kendra’s honorary Director N. Satyanarayana Raju and SVIMS Dean Alladi Mohan carried sacred books like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita, and Viveka Choodamani in a palanquin.
