Bharathidasan University hosted a programme to observe the birth anniversary of Dravida Kazhagam founder E.V. Ramaswamy on Thursday.
According to an official press release, Soma. Rajendran, associate professor and head, Department of Tamil, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti, delivered the keynote address at the event. In his address, he spoke about the leader’s thoughts and principles through the various stages of his life.
He emphasised that beyond politics, ‘Periyar’ (as E.V. Ramaswamy was called by his followers) was a leader who stood for every human being who sought to live with dignity and self-respect.
J. Chandrakala, director, Centre for Periyar Studies, and V. Rajesh Kannan, Vice-Chancellor Committee member, spoke.
