Led by Bharatiya Janata Party’s Puducherry unit president V. P. Ramalingam, the workers on Saturday celebrated the formation of the party’s first government in West Bengal by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to the public.

Addressing party workers, he said the victory of the BJP in West Bengal was a historic moment for the country. Lawlessness had prevailed in the State for several years and there was no scope for development. The State was not governed properly for decades, he said. “After the abolition of Article 360 in Jammu and Kashmir, the victory of the BJP in West Bengal has come as a major development in the country,” he added.
