The Brahmavar police in Udupi district have arrested two persons for allegedly threatening a minor boy and forcing him to work at wood-related establishment in Kunjathoor Padavu in Talapady, Kerala.
The police identified the accused as Vikhyat Acharya, 19, of Salekeri Varamballi village in Brahmavar taluk of Udupi district, and Suchith Nayak, 20, of Matapady village in Brahmavar taluk.
In a press note, the police said the two accused abducted the victim from the Brahmavar bus stand on June 1 at 8.30 a.m. and made him work at the establishment in Kunjathoor Padavu. Even after the boy pleaded to be allowed to return home, the accused confined him to the room where they were staying. On June 9, they assaulted the boy and threatened him while holding a sharp weapon. A minor boy recorded a video of the threat, the police said.
The police registered a case under Sections 137(2), 115(2), 352 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and Sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The two accused will be produced before a jurisdictional magistrate. The minor boy was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, the police said.
