District Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman on Wednesday flagged off an awareness rally as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed globally in October.
Over 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital and nursing students took out the rally on the occasion. They carried placards to spread the message of breast cancer prevention and the importance of screening and being aware of the symptoms.
The Collector said that free breast cancer screening would be available at the government medical college and hospital in Villupuram throughout the month. Lucy Nirmal Madonna, Dean, Government Medical College and Hospital was present.
